Rev. Fr. Bernard ONEGIU BILAK, MIDM
Secretary General
Fr. Bernard Onegiu Bilak, a Missionary of Jesus the
Divine Master (MIDM), is Chaplain to Arua Core Primary Teachers’ College,
Spiritual Director of the Legion Mary in Arua Diocese and Secretary General
of the Missionaries of Jesus the Divine Master.
Born in 1957 in Angal, then
part of Arua Diocese but now in Nebbi Catholic Diocese, he is a Ugandan by
birth, belonging to the Alur branch of the Luo ethnic group in West Nile.
He studied Philosophy in Uganda Martyrs’ National Major Seminary Alokolum in
Gulu, Uganda, and later obtained also a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences
from Makerere University, Kampala. Then he studied in St. Mary’s National
Major Seminary Ggaba, and obtained a Bachelor of Theology from Urbaniana
University, Rome. Thereafter he was ordained a Priest in 1994 for Arua
Diocese.
After teaching in Sts. Peter and Paul Minor Seminary Pokea, Fr. Bernard
pursued a Post Graduate Diploma in Teacher Education (PGDTE) from the
Institute of Teacher Education, Kyambogo (ITEK) and thereafter studied in
Kisubi Brothers’ University and obtained a Master of Arts in Educational
Leadership (MAED) from Walsh University, Ohio, U.S.A.
Fr. Bilak was Chaplain and Tutor in St. John Bosco Core Primary Teachers’
College from the year 2000 to 2020, and worked as a member of the General
Council from 1996 to 2019.
